Charred foetus case: Nalgonda teen arrested following sexual abuse allegations

Hyderabad: Domalguda police have traced the girl who had dumped the foetus in the garbage dump close to the NTR stadium in Ashok Nagar earlier this week.
On March 17, 2025, locals had alerted the police after they discovered the charred remains of a newborn in the garbage dump.
Upon being alerted by locals, the Domalguda police rushed to the spot and shifted the remains to the morgue in Gandhi hospital. A case was registered against the unknown person.
During an investigation, the police examined the CCTV footage of the surveillance cameras installed in the vicinity of NTR stadium and found the girl who had abandoned the foetus.
The probe revealed that a 16-year-old girl had given birth to a stillborn baby and later set the foetus on fire before throwing him in the garbage dump.
According to the police, the girl befriended a 17-year-old boy from Nalgonda whom she met on a social media platform. Over a period, the boy had sexually abused her on the false pretext of marrying her. When the girl told him that she had conceived and the pregnancy was in an advanced stage, he gave her some tablets which she consumed and the foetus was aborted.
Subsequently, she delivered a stillborn baby at home. Later, the boy suggested that she dump the foetus in a garbage heap near NTR stadium and set it ablaze.
The girl followed his advice and carried the foetus in a polythene bag to the garbage dump near the stadium, disposed of it and set the stillborn baby on fire. After gathering details from her, the Domalguda police reached the boy’s residence in Nalgonda and arrested him.
Since the boy is also a minor, he was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) and sent to a juvenile home. The accused has been charged under various sections and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
