Nagole: The commuters at Nagole Metro Station were frustrated and got angry on the morning of August 14, 2024, Wednesday, after discovering that the previously free parking facility had been converted into a paid one.

Without any prior warning, the parking facility at Nagole Metro Station, which was once free, now demands charges ranging from Rs. 10 for two hours of bike parking to Rs. 120 for a full day’s car parking. This sudden shift has sparked widespread discontent among motorists.

The new fee structure, which requires commuters to use the ‘Park Hyderabad’ App for payment, has caused further frustration due to the app’s unavailability on the Google Play Store.

This unexpected change has led to heated arguments between commuters and parking attendants, with many expressing their dissatisfaction over the lack of prior notice and the added financial burden.

Several commuters have questioned the fairness of introducing parking charges alongside existing metro fares. They argued that the combined costs are putting undue pressure on daily commuters, especially those with limited budgets.

As the negative impacts of the new policy become more apparent, the demand for the reinstatement of free parking is growing louder among commuters.
Some commuters who travel from long distances and rely on the free parking facility expressed disbelief at being charged. “How can they demand money for parking on government land?” one commuter questioned.
Protests intensified as some commuters raised slogans demanding a rollback of the new policy, chanting “L&T Metro Rail Down Down.

This incident created a buzz on social media, prompting many users to comment on the issue. One user questioned, “Despite charging for parking, how can they say ‘Parking at Owner’s Risk’?”

Another user mentioned, “We have been paying parking fees at the parade ground metro station for quite some time. Nothing is free, especially on prime lands.”
