Nagole metro station turns protest site as commuters oppose parking fees
Hyderabad: L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (L&TMRHL) ‘s decision to discontinue free parking has once again caused controversy. Several commuters are opposing the introduction of a nominal parking fee at Nagole metro station.
Questioning the L&TMRHL’s decision, the metro train passengers are demanding the management to continue with the free parking facility and provide minimum facilities to them. They even claimed that it is the responsibility of the Hyderabad Metro Rail to provide free parking to visitors.
Earlier, the L&TMRHL had announced that a nominal parking fees would be charged at Nagole and Miyapur metro stations effective Sunday, October 6, 2024. They also said the parking fee would come with several amenities, including security and convenience for the passenger, and there would be separate parking spaces for two-wheelers and cars.
Meanwhile, the Hyderabad metro train services continue to be the first choice of commuters in the city. The Hyderabad metro has witnessed an average 4.68 lakh passengers per day, 36,000 up from 4,32 lakh in Q1 of FY 2024-25. The Hyderabad Metro recorded its highest-ever daily ridership of 5.50 lakh commuters on August 14, 2024.
