HYDRAA stops encroachment on Nagireddy Kunta in Ranga Reddy

HYDERABAD: Authorities on Tuesday stopped attempts to encroach upon the 8.24-acre Nagireddy Kunta in Manchirevula village of Gandipet mandal in Ranga Reddy district. The alleged encroachers include major real estate firms.
Records from village and revenue departments clearly identify the land as a lake. The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has also recognised it as an 8.24 acre water body.
Real estate firms fence and conceal lake area
One real estate company fenced nearly four acres after building a 20-foot tin-sheet boundary wall, effectively concealing the lake. Another firm encroached on three acres. A former local public representative allegedly occupied over one acre and sold it to others.
Encroachers converted the land into plots, built compound walls using precast bricks, and set up temporary structures.
Action follows complaints from local residents
Acting on complaints from locals, Hydra officials conducted a field inspection with relevant departments and initiated action. All illegal structures were removed, and fencing was installed around the lake. Hydra boards were also put up to mark the protected area.
Residents said prompt action helped save the lake. “Even a slight delay would have led to permanent constructions,” they said, welcoming the enforcement drive.
