Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy becomes first Indian to receive “Legends of Endoscopy” award from Japan gastroenterologists

Hyderabad: Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy, Chairman of AIG Hospitals, has been conferred the prestigious “Legends of Endoscopy” award by the Japan Gastroenterologists. He is the first Indian gastroenterologist to receive this honor, which was presented during the Tokyo Live Global Endoscopy 2025 event at Showa University Hospital in Tokyo, Japan.
The award recognizes Dr. Reddy’s exceptional lifetime contributions to the field of Gastrointestinal (GI) Endoscopy and his global impact on patient care.
The award was presented by Dr. Haruhiro Inoue, Professor and Chairman of the Digestive Diseases Center at Showa University Koto Toyosu Hospital, in the presence of Dr. Shinji Tanaka, President of the Japan Gastroenterological Endoscopy Society.
As part of the event, Dr. Reddy performed live demonstrations of complex endoscopic procedures, showcasing advanced techniques for managing difficult biliary and pancreatic stones. He also shared insights into emerging tools and technologies that enhance safety and precision in such interventions.
Dr. Haruhiro Inoue praised Dr. Reddy’s innovations, particularly the Nagi stent, which he noted has saved lives and improved outcomes in challenging clinical cases. He described Dr. Reddy’s work as a blend of clinical excellence and the global need for accessible healthcare.
