HYDERABAD: Actor-producer Nagarjuna Akkineni, chairman of Annapurna College of Film and Media, along with Academy Award-winning music director M. M. Keeravani, inaugurated a Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 HOME EDITION (HE) Mix Facility at the college on Tuesday.

The facility, equipped with Dolby Atmos technology, is aimed at advancing professional sound education and immersive audio production. The new 7.1.4 HE sound studio will allow students, alumni and sound designers to create immersive mixes and undertake mastering aligned with global industry standards.

Speaking at the event, Nagarjuna Akkineni said the institution had consistently focused on providing students access to contemporary technology. “Sound brings life to a film, and cinema is driven by technology. We have always ensured students have access to the latest technology at our college,” he said.

M. M. Keeravani appreciated the technical demonstration presented at the facility and interacted with students on the finer aspects of sound design. He said sound played a central role in storytelling and emotional engagement. “A well-designed soundscape can elevate emotion, deepen storytelling and transform the audience’s experience. Facilities like this inspire creativity and precision,” he said, adding that the studio would help students develop their creative voice in a professional environment.

The college said the new facility marked a significant step in preparing students for contemporary filmmaking practices, particularly in the growing area of spatial and immersive audio.
