Nagar Kurnool infant murder: TGHRC seeks police report

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken up a complaint on the alleged murder of a two month old infant and an attack on members of a Dalit family in Kummera village of Nagar Kurnool district.
The complaint was submitted by representatives of the BC, SC and ST Joint Action Committee (JAC). The commission, led by chairperson Justice Shameem Akhtar, admitted the matter for consideration.
Allegations include caste harassment and police inaction
The complaint alleged caste-based harassment, physical assault by some individuals, and failure of local police to take action. It also alleged that the police did not register appropriate offences or arrest the accused.
Commission seeks detailed police report
Considering the seriousness of the allegations, the commission directed the Director General of Police, Telangana, to submit a detailed report on the incident and the action taken by police officers.
The commission asked the police to file the report by March 24, 2026, for further examination of the case.
