NAC–NRSC partnership to boost geospatial skills for construction sector
HYDERABAD: Taking a big step to improve skill training in construction, the National Academy of Construction (NAC) has teamed up with the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) by signing an agreement. This partnership will introduce the latest mapping and location tech into training for the construction industry and related fields.
The agreement, signed in Hyderabad, joins the two organizations. They will add specialized geospatial training modules to NAC’s current curriculum. Additionally, the partnership will introduce Executive Development Programmes (EDPs) to upskill professionals across various domains.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Dr. N. Aparna, Deputy Director of the Management System Area (MSA) at NRSC, emphasized the growing importance of these technologies. “GIS and remote sensing technology skills are a must for every professional across the domains of construction, infrastructure, forestry, climate change, irrigation, and transportation,” she said. Dr. Aparna expressed NRSC’s enthusiasm for the partnership and offered the organization’s full support to ensure its success.
Director General M. Srinivas Reddy, representing NAC, emphasized the institution’s commitment to closing the skill gap for civil engineering graduates. “NAC is committed to enhancing the skill capacities of the students, especially civil engineering graduates,” he stated. He requested NRSC to participate actively in NAC’s training programmes to ensure the knowledge imparted is industry-relevant and cutting-edge.
The agreement is expected to improve the quality and variety of skill training at NAC, helping students and professionals learn how to use satellite data and mapping tools in today’s construction and infrastructure projects.
The NRSC officials, including Dr. Abdul Hakeem, DD, Bhuvan GeoSpatial & Web Services Area (BG&WSA), P. Shasidhar Reddy, Group Head, Training Education & Outreach Group (TEOG), and Dr. P. Satyanarayana, Head, Programme Management Division (PMD). And The NAC delegation included I. Shantisree, Director (Training), Raj Reddy, Yugandhar, and Maj (Dr) Shiva Kiran, Senior Consultant were present during the MOU.
