MY CURE complaints closed, but mosquito problem persists in Manikonda

HYDERABAD: Residents of Kohinoor Enclave in Manikonda have expressed growing frustration over a severe mosquito infestation that has affected the area for months. Complaints submitted through the MY CURE app are being closed automatically without any real vector control response.
Residents say the problem is very hard to live with because the Ibrahimbagh Lake is close by and trash is not picked up regularly. Even with these problems, city officials have not helped the community properly.
Speaking to HyderabadMail, Sufiyan Siddiqui, a resident of Kohinoor Enclave on Alkapur Road in Manikonda, said that a complaint was filed through the MY CURE app about 45 days ago, but the issue was marked as resolved with a note saying that fogging and larvicidal spraying were done. Siddiqui said no such vector control measures were actually taken, and complaints are often closed automatically, leaving residents with no effective solution.
He explained that the mosquito problem has continued for a long time and is mainly due to the nearby lake and irregular waste collection, both of which provide breeding grounds for mosquitoes. While authorities have reportedly cleaned the lake, residents say it is still a major source of mosquitoes because it is poorly maintained and not regularly used.
The lack of regular fogging and larvicidal spraying, along with the automatic closure of complaints on the civic app, has made residents lose trust in the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). They are left to deal with health risks such as vector-borne diseases like dengue and malaria. Siddiqui urged GHMC to inspect the area and carry out ongoing vector control measures instead of only closing complaints in the system.
