Musi Riverfront Development Project

HYDERABAD: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has urged Union Minister of Jal Shakti, CR Paatil, to support the ambitious Musi Riverfront Development Project. In a meeting held in Delhi, Revanth Reddy, accompanied by Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu, Uttam Kumar Reddy and other representatives, highlighted the urgent need to clean and rejuvenate the heavily polluted Musi River.

Revanth Reddy has requested four thousand crore for cleaning the river and another six thousand crore for filling Osman Sagar and Himayat Sagar reservoirs with Godavari water. He emphasized that filling these reservoirs would alleviate Hyderabad’s water scarcity issues.

Request for Jal Jeevan Mission funds

Revanth Reddy pointed out that despite the national launch of the Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019, Telangana has not yet received any funds under this scheme. He urged the allocation of funds starting this year. Additionally, Reddy highlighted the need for Rs. 16,100 crore for providing water connections to 7.85 lakh households in both urban and rural areas under the PMAY scheme.

Reddy’s previous tweet reinforced his commitment to transforming Hyderabad into a world-class city within five years, with the Musi Riverfront becoming a major tourist attraction.

Appeal for subsidized gas cylinders

CM Revanth Reddy also met with Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, to discuss the “Mahalakshmi” welfare scheme, which provides gas cylinders at a subsidized rate of Rs. 500. He requested that the subsidies be paid in advance to oil marketing companies. Previously before elections Revanth Reddy has promised to deliver gas cylinders at the cost of Rs. 500.

In his Delhi visit, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy met Indian National Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, AICC General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi along with Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka, Irrigation minister Uttam Kumar Reddy.

Reddy’s engagement with the central ministers aims to secure substantial financial support for these critical projects, ensuring the sustained development and welfare of Telangana’s residents.
