Revanth Reddy pushes Musi project, invites Rajnath for Hyderabad ceremony

HYDERABAD: The Telangana government has commenced land acquisition for key stretches of the Musi River rejuvenation project, marking progress in the proposed riverfront development.
The Musi River Development Corporation Limited (MRDCL) on Wednesday issued a notification outlining phased acquisition across parts of Hyderabad and adjoining districts. Officials have been directed to acquire over 50 acres to begin construction.
Land acquisition begins for Phase A1 and A2
According to MRDCL, acquisition will be taken up in two initial phases.
Phase A1 covers a 9.2-km stretch from Himayat Sagar to Gandhi Sarovar. Phase A2 spans 11.8 km from Osman Sagar to Gandhi Sarovar.
Proceedings have begun to acquire over 50 acres in parts of Golconda mandal in Hyderabad district and Gandipet mandal in Rangareddy district.
A formal notification has been issued under the provisions of the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement Act, 2013. The government has assured compensation based on prevailing market value.
Affected landowners have been asked to submit ownership documents, including pattadar passbooks, Aadhaar cards and bank account details, within the stipulated timeframe. Authorities have also invited objections within the prescribed period.
The notification lists survey numbers and village-wise land parcels identified for acquisition.
CM invites Rajnath for foundation ceremony
Chief minister A Revanth Reddy met defence minister Rajnath Singh and invited him to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the Gandhi Sarovar project, scheduled for the last week of February.
The chief minister informed the Union minister that the programme will be held at the confluence of the Eesa and Musi rivers. He said Mahatma Gandhi’s ashes were immersed at the same confluence in February 1948.
Revanth Reddy told Rajnath Singh that the Gandhi Sarovar project is being taken up as part of the Musi rejuvenation initiative. He added that the state government plans to develop Bapu Ghat into a world-class educational, cultural, spiritual and environmental landmark.
55-km project across three districts
The Musi rejuvenation project will be implemented in phases across Hyderabad, Rangareddy and Medchal–Malkajgiri districts.
The larger plan envisages development along a 55-km stretch from Gandipet to Gauravelli, covering 14 mandals and 46 villages. The initiative aims at riverfront development, environmental restoration and infrastructure upgrades along the Musi corridor.
Officials said the commencement of land acquisition marks a key milestone in the effort to restore and redevelop the Musi River ecosystem in and around Hyderabad.
