Madhu Park Ridge Residents During Musi Dandi March In Hyderabad Opposing Gandhi Sarovar Project Displacement

HYDERABAD: Several property owners of Madhu Park Ridge (MPR), whose flats are likely to be affected by land acquisition for the Gandhi Sarovar Project linked to the Musi Riverfront Development, on Sunday organised a “Musi Dandi March” from MPR Apartments in Bandlaguda to Parade Ground, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed a public meeting.

The protesters said they would submit a formal representation to the Prime Minister through Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao.

Giri Babu, one of the property owners of Madhu Park Ridge, said the march was organised to oppose the proposed displacement of residential apartments for the Gandhi Sarovar Project.

Residents question scrutiny and land diversion

In their representation, the residents raised concerns over the Musi Riverfront Development Project, including displacement of residents, environmental impact, diversion of institutional land, and the alleged lack of adequate social and environmental scrutiny.

They also sought protection of the rights of affected residents.

The protesters wore attire carrying images of Mahatma Gandhi leading the historic Dandi March as part of the demonstration.
