Hyderabad: Seven youths from Musheerabad, Hyderabad, were involved in a tragic drowning incident at the Sri Kondapochamma Reservoir in Markuk Mandal, Siddipet District, on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Five of the youths lost their lives, while two others managed to survive.

According to the reports, the group had visited the reservoir and stepped into the water in an attempt to take a selfie while holding hands. The strong currents swept them away. Despite the quick response from locals and the police, only two were rescued.

The deceased have been identified as Dhanush (20), a photo studio worker from Musheerabad; his brother Lohith (17), a student; Chikatla Dineshwar (17), a diploma student from Kavadiguda near Bansilalpet; Sahil (19), son of Deepak Sutar; and Jatin (17), a diploma student from Khairatabad, Chintalbasti.

The survivors are Komari Mrigank (17), a second-year diploma student, and Md Ibrahim (20), an employee at Blink-it, both from Musheerabad.
