Two held in Apple iPhone theft case by Musheerabad police
HYDERABAD: The Musheerabad police on November 9, 2025, apprehended two persons in connection with the theft of an Apple iPhone 17 Air, which was stolen through cheating and diversion of attention.
Police identified the accused as Mohammed Ikramuddin alias Ikram, 24, manager at Blue Spa, Kokapet, residing at Mohallahganj near Golconda Fort, and Sumeet Saini alias Sumeet, 38, a businessman from Qutbiguda, Badichowdi, originally from Churu district in Rajasthan.
Theft planned through OLX ad
According to police, on October 18, Ikramuddin noticed an OLX advertisement for the sale of an Apple iPhone 17 Air and planned to steal it. On October 27, he contacted the complainant and invited him to Eden Homestay in Gandhinagar, which he had rented for a day. When the complainant and his brother arrived around 23.30 IST, Ikramuddin offered them a soft drink and took the phone, its box and charger on the pretext of showing it to his mother in the next room. He then locked the room from outside and fled.
Phone sold to receiver for ₹69,000
Two days later, on October 29, Ikramuddin sold the stolen phone to Sumeet Saini for ₹69,000 and used the proceeds to clear his debts. Police said the accused was previously involved in three other cases registered at Chevella, Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills police stations.
Arrest and recovery
Based on credible information, the Musheerabad crime team led by Detective Inspector Md Nadeem Hussain apprehended Ikramuddin at his residence. The investigation revealed that he committed the theft to fund a lavish lifestyle. Police recovered the stolen iPhone 17 Air from Saini, who was arrested as the receiver of stolen property.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of ACP L. Ramesh Kumar, Chikkadpally Division, Inspector G. Rambabu, and Sub-Inspector G. Durga Chowdary.
