Hyderabad: A scheduled IndiGo flight from Mumbai to Visakhapatnam was diverted to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Shamshabad, due to a technical issue mid-flight on Saturday, January 04, 2025. The airline confirmed that the BOMVTZ flight was rerouted to Hyderabad after the pilot detected the malfunction. The aircraft landed safely, and all 144 passengers disembarked without injury.

Many passengers expressed relief after the incident, reflecting on the potential risks if the situation escalated further.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the cause of the technical issue. Many are questioning the underlying causes behind these technical problems and whether more stringent safety measures are necessary. Some have also raised concerns about the possibility of a major accident if similar situations were to unfold under more dangerous circumstances.

This incident follows a similar occurrence just days earlier. On Tuesday, September 24, 2024, an Air India flight from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad to Tirupati was forced to make an emergency landing due to a technical issue mid-air.

The flight, identified as 9I 877, was an ATR-72-600 aircraft that had taken off from Hyderabad at 6:30 a.m. Shortly after takeoff, a technical problem with the engine was detected, and the pilot safely executed an emergency landing at Shamshabad Airport around 8:30 a.m.

All passengers were reported safe and unharmed. However, passengers raised concerns about the lack of assistance at the airport, claiming they received no support from the airline despite waiting for several hours.

In another incident at RGIA, passengers of Akasa Airlines expressed growing frustration on July 22, 2024, due to a significant delay in their flight to Delhi. The scheduled departure time was 5:00 a.m., but the aircraft had not yet arrived, causing anxiety among passengers.

Tensions escalated as passengers engaged in disputes with airline staff over inconsistent information regarding the flight’s status. Many passengers demanded alternative travel arrangements after receiving unclear responses from the airline personnel.
