Moula Ali Boy Becomes Telangana's Sole IMA Cadet

Hyderabad: Meet Rathin Bathula Narasimha Rao, who is set to join as a Lieutenant Officer in the Indian Army. He was recently selected for the Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun and successfully completed his training.

Narasimha was the only candidate from Telangana among the 491 cadets selected for the IMA. He imbibed the values of patriotism and duty from a young age as his great-grandfather served a Jamedar in the Indian Army in 1942.

While most young men seek secure corporate jobs or go abroad for higher studies in search of a comfortable lifestyle, Rathin Narasimha took a different path. He quit his corporate job to pursue his dream of joining the army and serving the nation.

Initially, he faced some failures, however, his strong determination and eventually paid off. Rathin shared that it was his passion for serving the country that motivated him to join the armed forces.
Narasimha was born in Moula Ali, Secunderabad but spent his early childhood in Mumbai after his father, a BSNL employee, was transferred there.

He studied there until the sixth grade before relocating to Hyderabad and he studied 7th and 8th grades at Hyderabad Public School. His mother encouraged him to join the NCC Air Wing, which sowed the seeds of his passion for the armed forces.

Later, Narasimha returned to Mumbai to complete his higher secondary and engineering studies. During his third year of engineering, he tried to join the Indian Air Force but failed despite reaching the interview stage. Undeterred, he completed his engineering degree and worked for a year as a Digital Analyst at KPMG.

Since candidates who score over 80 percent in engineering courses are eligible for the Technical Graduate Course (TGC) programme, Narasimha made the most of this opportunity and successfully completed his training at the Indian Military Academy. Thus, Narasimha became the fourth-generation member in his family to serve the Indian Army after his great-grandfather.
