Hyderabad: The LB Nagar ADJ III Court has sentenced two individuals to prison in connection with the harassment and subsequent death of a woman due to dowry demands.

The incident occurred under the jurisdiction of Chaitanyapuri Police Station, where, just a day after the marriage, the husband began demanding additional dowry. The wife was subjected to repeated physical assaults, which ultimately led to her death.

The accused, Kalimera Anand Kumar (27), a private employee, and Kalimera Bharatamma (45), a BSNL employee, both residents of NTR Nagar, Chaitanyapuri, were found guilty under sections 302 and 304(B) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The case, registered under Cr. No. 730/2017, was investigated by Chaitanyapuri Police Station.

On March 28, 2025, the court sentenced Anand Kumar to life imprisonment, while Bharatamma was sentenced to seven years of rigorous imprisonment. Public Prosecutor D. Raghu presented the case in court.
