Old Moosarambagh bridge over Musi demolished

HYDERABAD: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has demolished the old bridge over the Musi River at Moosarambagh after it was declared unsafe for traffic.
Officials said the bridge was severely damaged during the recent floods and had developed cracks, with railings collapsing and iron rods exposed, posing a serious safety risk. Following inspections by the GHMC engineering department, the bridge was completely closed to traffic.
Traffic police also suspended vehicle movement on the bridge to prevent accidents. Officials said the demolition was being carried out as a precautionary measure to avoid any mishaps.
The GHMC engineering division has begun preparing proposals for a new bridge to be constructed at the same location. Meanwhile, vehicles heading towards Amberpet have been diverted through the Golnaka bridge.
Pedestrians, however, are facing inconvenience due to the demolition and have urged authorities to complete the new bridge before removing the old one entirely.
