SIT finds three narcotics at Rohit Reddy farmhouse

HYDERABAD:Â A new angle has emerged in the Moinabad farmhouse drug party case that created a stir. The Special Investigation Team (SIT), formed to probe the case, has accelerated its inquiry and gathered key details on Wednesday.
Police earlier disrupted a drug party at the farmhouse of former Tandur MLA Rohit Reddy in Aziznagar under Moinabad municipality in Rangareddy district. SIT officials have now found that the accused consumed three types of narcotics at the party cocaine, MDMA and methamphetamine.
Kaushik Ravi told police on the day of his arrest that he had purchased cocaine for ₹15,000 from an unidentified person in Shimla. During the investigation, officials learnt that Rohit Reddy’s driver Sharath bought MDMA and methamphetamine from software employee Abhishek near Appa Junction in Hyderabad. The SIT found that Abhishek had allegedly been supplying drugs for several years and had faced a previous case.
Custody plea hearing reserved
Police identified that Rohit Reddy had arranged two types of drugs for the party. Investigators said cocaine and methamphetamine were mixed with expensive liquor to increase intoxication. Delhi-based businessman Namit Sharma allegedly consumed all three drugs during the party.
SIT officials, who questioned the accused after granting them station bail on Tuesday, are focusing on tracing the source of the narcotics. Police believe that taking Rohit Reddy, Ritesh Reddy and Namit Sharma into custody will help uncover further details. They filed a petition in the Rajendranagar court seeking seven-day custody. After hearing both sides, the court reserved its order until March 20.
Commissioner reviews probe
Future City Commissioner Sudhir Babu held a meeting with SIT officers investigating the case at Shamshabad police station. He is learnt to have instructed them to examine the reasons behind organising the drug party involving people from different states and professions.
