Moinabad police arrest four in advocate Swapna murder

HYDERABAD: Moinabad police on February 4, 2026 arrested four accused in the murder of advocate G Swapna, a practising lawyer at the Chevella court, who was allegedly killed over a dispute involving ancestral property.
Swapna, a resident of Kethireddypally village in Moinabad mandal, was allegedly murdered by her elder brother and three associates following a long-running dispute over four acres of land.
Advocate killed during land survey
According to police, the incident occurred around 9.30 am when the complainant, Gotika Venkatamma, and her daughter Swapna went to their land in Survey No. 339 at Kethireddypally village to conduct a survey.
After completing the survey, the two were returning towards the road connecting Venkatapur and Nakkalapally when the accused arrived in a car and rammed into Swapna. She fell into a pit and was then assaulted with sticks and stones.
Police said the attackers restrained her and slit her throat with a knife. Venkatamma raised an alarm and rushed to save her daughter, but Swapna died on the spot due to severe bleeding.
Property dispute cited as motive
Investigators said the murder was planned to grab the disputed four acres of ancestral land. The prime accused allegedly conspired with the other three to eliminate Swapna.
Police said the accused used an Innova car and a scooty to reach the agricultural land, and carried a sickle as part of the plan. After confirming her death, the accused fled the scene.
Accused arrested, vehicles and weapons seized
The arrested accused were identified as:
Gotike Raju of Kethireddypally village, Moinabad mandal
Errolla Sandeep of Chinnashapur village, Moinabad mandal
Vadde Veeresh of Kurvichedugani village, Bashirabad mandal, Vikarabad district
Kavali Shiva Lingam of Sriram Nagar village, Moinabad mandal
Police seized an Innova car, a scooty, four mobile phones belonging to the accused, and a sickle used in the crime.
The arrests were made under the supervision of senior officers of the Future City police commissionerate, including the Chevella zone deputy commissioner of police, the assistant commissioner of police, and the station house officer of Moinabad police station.
