How Telangana ACB’s disproportionate assets probe led to Mohan Naik’s arrest and remand
HYDERABAD: Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department Engineer-in-Chief Mohan Naik was remanded to 14 days of judicial custody and shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail after being produced before a court by officials of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB).
The action follows the registration of a disproportionate assets case against the senior official.
According to the ACB, simultaneous searches were carried out at 16 locations linked to Naik on Tuesday. During the raids, officials allegedly unearthed assets valued at ₹17.94 crore that were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income.
Following the searches, the ACB arrested Naik and produced him before a court, which remanded him to judicial custody for 14 days.
Market value assessment under scrutiny
While the ACB has officially assessed the disproportionate assets at ₹17.94 crore, investigators believe the open market value of the properties and other assets linked to the accused could be substantially higher.
Sources associated with the investigation indicated that the market value of the assets may exceed ₹150 crore, though the valuation process is still under examination.

The ACB is continuing its investigation into the assets and financial transactions linked to the official. Further scrutiny of documents seized during the searches is under way.
