Telangana HC grants relief to Mohan Babu in challenging police notices

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on December 11, 2024, granted interim relief to veteran actor Mohan Babu in his petition challenging notices served by the Rachakonda Commissioner of Police. The court exempted him from appearing before the police for questioning, citing his health condition. Mohan Babu had been hospitalised following an alleged assault on a reporter during a family dispute at his residence.

The petition, filed by senior advocates Nagesh Reddy and Murali Manohar, requested the court to direct the police to provide security at Mohan Babu’s residence and set up a picket, claiming that no security had been provided despite prior requests. The court is scheduled to hear the case further on December 24, 2024.

The notices had been issued in relation to the Jalpally incident, where tensions escalated following an alleged attack. The actor had been ordered to appear before the police at 10:30 a.m. on December 11, 2024, to address concerns under Section 126 of the BNSS regarding a potential breach of peace.

The police action follows a report by the Station House Officer of Pahadishareef Police Station, accusing Mohan Babu of involvement under several sections of the law. As part of the investigation, licensed firearms belonging to Mohan Babu were seized due to public safety concerns.

Mohan Babu’s health condition and the ongoing legal issues have led to his temporary relief from the police questioning.
