Theft at Miyapur wine shop solved; two arrested, cash seized

HYDERABAD: Miyapur police have arrested two persons in connection with a night theft at a wine shop in Reddy Colony and recovered cash and other items.
Roof entry plan led to theft at liquor outlet
The incident occurred at JS Wine Mart under the Miyapur police station limits. Police said the accused surveyed the shop in advance and entered through the roof during the night.
Cash counters damaged; coins worth ₹85,000 missing
According to the complaint, the shop cashier had closed the outlet around 23.30 IST on March 14, 2026. When he reopened it at about 10.30 IST on March 15, he found roof sheets near the storeroom broken and both cash counters damaged.
Police said coins worth about ₹85,000 were stolen. A case was registered as Crime No. 411/2025 under Sections 331(4) and 305(a) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation was launched.
Accused planned crime jointly after advance reconnaissance
Police identified the arrested persons as:
Maddala Srinivasa Rao, 34, a Rapido driver from Rajula Sami Nagar, Suraram, originally from Chinnamuttevi village in Movva mandal of Krishna district.
Akash Kumar, 22, a mason from Rajula Sami Nagar, Suraram, originally from Sabnima village under Athmalgola police station in Patna district, Bihar.
Police said Srinivasa Rao was earlier involved in cases registered at Suraram police station and Pet-Basheerabad police station.
During the operation, officers seized ₹9,500 in cash, a OnePlus mobile phone and a Pulsar motorcycle.
Police advise stronger security measures at commercial outlets
Miyapur police urged shop owners to strengthen doors and rooftops, install CCTV surveillance and employ night security guards. They also advised traders not to keep large amounts of cash in counters overnight and to deposit daily collections safely after business hours.
The case was supervised by the Assistant Commissioner of Police, KPHB division.
