CBR Estates Miyapur murder: Police solve case of 29-year-old woman
Miyapur: Miyapur police have solved the mystery surrounding the brutal murder of a 29-year-old woman, Spandana, who was found dead in her apartment on October 1, 2024. The incident took place at CBR Estate apartments in Deepthisri Nagar, Miyapur, where Spandana lived with her mother, Namrata, a school teacher, and her brother.
Spandana, a native of Visakhapatnam, had previously worked as a bank employee at HDFC Bank in Hyderabad but left her job two years ago. According to Sub-Inspector Venkateswarlu, Spandana was married to Varanasi in 2022, but the couple had been living separately due to ongoing marital discord.
On the day of the murder, Namrata left for school as usual, and upon returning home in the evening, she found the doors locked and received no response to her calls to Spandana. Anxious about her daughter’s silence, Namrata alerted neighbours, who helped break down the door. Inside, they discovered Spandana’s body in her bedroom, showing severe injuries to her head and face.
Following the discovery, Miyapur police registered a case and began interrogating three suspects. Investigators utilised CCTV footage and phone records to identify the accused as Mandala Manoj Kumar, also known as Balu, a colleague of Spandana’s from a private company.
According to the reports, Manoj had developed feelings for Spandana, who had been living apart from her husband. After Spandana rejected his love, Manoj grew resentful, particularly regarding her friendships with other colleagues.
On the day of the murder, Manoj allegedly broke into Spandana’s apartment and attacked her with a screwdriver and a boulder, killing her on the spot.
The Miyapur police have arrested Manoj and registered the case against him under various sections of the law.
