Miyapur police arrest three MDMA peddlers

HYDERABAD: Miyapur police arrested three men for allegedly selling banned MDMA drugs and seized 12.6 grams of the substance during a raid in the Miyapur police station limits.

Miyapur inspector Shivaprasad said police acted on a tip-off that drugs were being sold from a Volkswagen car near Vishwambhara Colony park on Monday, March 3.

A team from Miyapur police station and the Special Operations Team (SOT), Madhapur, reached the spot around 2.50 pm and inspected the vehicle.

When the suspects noticed the police, they tried to flee. Officers chased them and took them into custody.

Drugs found in car dashboard

During a search of the car, police found a white crystalline substance packed in a zip-lock cover inside the dashboard.

Tests with a drug detection kit confirmed the substance as 12.6 grams of MDMA, the officer said.

Police identified the accused as Beri Hanumanthu (27), Bhoomani Mahesh (26) and Kasam Adarsh (28).

During questioning, the accused told police they bought the drugs at a lower price in Bengaluru and sold them in Hyderabad for higher profits.

Police seized the drugs, a Volkswagen car and four mobile phones from the accused.

Case registered under NDPS Act

Police registered a case under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are investigating to identify other members of the drug network.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of Kukatpally Zone additional deputy commissioner of police M Sudarshan.

Police said the drug menace is destroying the lives of young people and urged citizens to inform authorities about drug trafficking or consumption. They assured that the identity of informants will be kept confidential.
