How a missing Hyderabad BTech student was traced to a well in Prakasam district
HYDERABAD: A missing person case registered at Kachiguda police station has ended in tragedy after the body of a BTech student from Jagtial district was traced to a well in Prakasam district.
Ankam Rahul, a BTech student staying at Lakshmikala Boys Hostel in Saidabad, had been reported missing by his father, Ankam Rajeswar. Based on the complaint, Kachiguda police registered a case under Crime No. 287/2026.
According to police, Rahul was last seen on May 27, 2026, at Kachiguda Tourist Junction. He had got down from a friend’s motorcycle and reportedly told him that he was going out with friends before leaving the area. His whereabouts remained unknown thereafter.
Police pursued multiple leads
During the investigation, Kachiguda police examined various leads and explored all possible angles to trace the student.
On the night of June 7, 2026, the investigating team received information that an unidentified body had been recovered from a well on May 30 within the limits of Singarayakonda police station in Prakasam district. A separate case had already been registered there.
Identity established through belongings
Police said the personal belongings and articles recovered from the deceased matched the description and identity details of Rahul.
However, DNA testing is yet to be completed to establish the identity conclusively.
The information was subsequently communicated to Rahul’s family members. Further investigation is under way.
