Mindspace residents demand road completion

Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad’s Mindspace are facing a frustrating situation as incomplete roadworks have caused both pedestrian difficulties and traffic congestion. A critical road near the Gowra Fountain building, by the Westin hotel, was dug up for repairs 12 days ago but remains unfinished, significantly inconveniencing commuters who rely on this route.

Software employee Venkatesh Kanikacharla, a resident of the area, highlighted the issue on a social media platform ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter. He tagged the official handles of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and its Commissioner, Amrapali Kata, in his post.

“The road in Mindspace has been dug up for the past 12 days, causing a lot of problems for commuters. This is the only route available for us to reach our offices. I kindly request your intervention to expedite the work,” Venkatesh posted.

The GHMC responded to Venkatesh’s post on the platform, stating: “Dear Citizen, can you share the exact location for reference so that Team GHMC can resolve as early as possible (asap).”

While speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, Venkatesh Kanikacharla said that the situation is causing problems for residents of PGs and houses in the area as there is no alternative route. He pinpointed the exact location beside the Gowra Fountain building, behind the Westin hotel, Mindspace in Madhapur.

“The dug-up road is the only way for pedestrians and vehicles to navigate. The works were stopped abruptly after they began 12 days ago, leaving the road in a terrible condition. This is causing problems for pedestrians, especially during the rainy season, as water gets stagnant, leading to potential health hazards,” he added.

Venkatesh further mentioned that these terrible road conditions are also creating traffic jams.

The residents have requested the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) to expedite the roadworks to minimize inconvenience.
