Prepare DPR for metro expansion to Medchal: CM Revanth to officials

Hyderabad: Hyderabad metro train will chug into Medchal and Shamirpet as the chief minister A Revanth Reddy has decided to extend the metro services to the northern part of Hyderabad the third phase of expansion of this mode of public transport.
HAML Managing Director, NVS Reddy said the chief minister has given the nod for the preparation of detailed project reports (DPRs) to the authorities.
“The Chief Minister has given a go ahead for the preparation of DPRs for the Paradise-Medchal (23 km) and JBS-Shamirpet (22 km) metro corridors,” NVR Reddy said in a statement on Wednesday.
The administration has directed the HAML Managing Director to immediately prepare the DPRs which will be forwarded to the central government for approval as it’s a Public Private Partnership (PPP) project. These DPRs will be dispatched to Centre for approval as part of Metro Rail Phase-2 ‘B’.
The development follows after the chief minister Revanth Reddy discussed the preparation of DPRs for these two corridors with the Principal Secretary, Municipal Administration Department, Dana Kishore and NVS Reddy on Wednesday.
Notably, the residents have been demanding that the metro services be extended to Keesara, Medchal and Alwal. The planned metro route under the phase-III expansion are Paradise Metro Station to Medchal via Tadbund, Bowenpally, Suchitra Circle, Kompally, Gundlapochampally, Kandlakoya, ORR Exit; Similarly, from JBS Metro Station to Shamirpet will be via Vikrampuri, Karkhana, Trimulgherry, Lothukunta, Alwal, Bollaram, Hakimpet, Thumukunta, ORR Exit.
Meanwhile, the Detailed project report (DPR) for the Second phase metro expansion has been approved by the state cabinet. The Phase II project costs about Rs 24,269 crore, including expansion routes in five stretches from- Nagole to Shamshabad, Raidurg – Kokapet, MGBS- Chandrayangutta, Miyapur to Patancheru, and LB Nagar to Hayathnagar.
Metro to RGIA airport to become reality
The ambitious Metro Phase 2 project is a 36.6-kilometer airport metro corridor connecting Rajiv Gandhi International Airport(RGIA) to the city center. Corridor IV (Airport Metro Corridor) covers about 36.6 Km from Nagole to Shamshabad Airport via L.B Nagar, Karmanghat, Owaisi Hospital, DRDO, Chandrayangutta, Mailardevpally, Aramghar, New High Court, and Shamshabad Jn on NH. Out of the total length, 35 Km is elevated and 1.6 Km is underground, with 24 metro stations including one underground Airport station.
