TeNA Green army starts Mellacheruvu lake restoration

HYDERABAD: The Mellacheruvu Lake Deep Cleaning Drive was launched on Thursday, marking a significant step for local environmental conservation. Led by the TeNA Green Army, the initiative seeks to restore the lake’s ecological health and address ongoing pollution concerns.
The drive began with an excavator removing plastic waste, debris, and accumulated garbage from the lake bed. The main goals are to improve water flow, prevent further pollution, and restore the lake to its natural state. Organizers also aim to raise awareness among residents and nearby communities about the importance of protecting local water bodies and promoting environmental sustainability.
Several government officials attended the launch to support the community-led initiative. Cyberabad Municipal Corporation Patancheru Circle Deputy Commissioner Jyothi Reddy, Sangareddy Irrigation Department Deputy Executive Engineer Ramaswamy, and Assistant Engineer Ms. Santhoshini were present. The officials commended the community’s collective efforts in leading the restoration work.

Tellapur Neighbourhood Association (TeNA) President Ramana Eshwaragari and Executive Committee Members Deepthi Reddy and Ravi Kiran also took part in the launch.
The initiative received support from local leaders across the political spectrum, including Former Sarpanch Kumar Goud, Former PACS Chairman, Buchi Reddy, Congress Leader Prabhakar Reddy, BRS Leader Narsimhulu, and BJP Leader Rajender Reddy.

The TeNA Green Army reaffirmed its commitment to the long-term restoration of Mellacheruvu Lake and encouraged all residents and stakeholders to continue supporting the initiative for a cleaner, healthier, and more sustainable environment.
