BALAPUR: An audio recording has surfaced in which a sub-inspector allegedly demands liquor bottles from a complainant seeking justice in a land encroachment case in Meerpet.

According to the complainant, Tirupataiah, a resident of Lenin Nagar in Meerpet, said his wife Latha received about 11 sq yards of land as a gift from her mother-in-law Venkatamma in 2010. He constructed a shutter and has been running a salon on the site.

Dispute over ownership triggers complaint

Tirupataiah alleged that Venkatesh, who had earlier sold the land to Venkatamma, occupied the shop on April 4 and began construction work. He lodged a complaint at the Meerpet police station and also approached the Badangpet circle office.

Sub-inspector Nagabhushanam inspected the site and directed that the construction be halted. However, Venkatesh did not comply, the complainant said.

Audio clip goes viral; action taken

Tirupataiah alleged that he had been visiting the police station repeatedly regarding the issue. On Friday evening, the sub-inspector reportedly called him and asked him to urgently send two liquor bottles. When Tirupataiah said he was not in the village, the officer allegedly asked him to send them through his children.

The phone call recording went viral on social media on Sunday. Following this, senior officials took note of the issue and reportedly issued orders attaching the sub-inspector to the commissionerate.
