Meerpet hit-and-run victim succumbs to injuries, family alleges police inaction
Hyderabad: In a tragic hit-and-run case which took place under the Meerpet Police Station limits, a young man lost his life which has left his family devastated.
The incident occurred near the Mithila Nagar MLA camp office on Wednesday night. The grainy CCTV footage shows an unidentified speeding vehicle hit Anil, who was crossing the road. The victim sustained severe head injuries in the mishap. The locals immediately rushed to his help and shifted him to Osmania Hospital. However, Anil succumbed to his injuries early this morning.
Meanwhile, the parents and relatives have expressed displeasure over Meerpet police inaction, even three days after the complaint was lodged.
Speaking to HyderabadMail, Meerpet Sub-Inspector Sudhakar said the police are examining the CCTV footage and will proceed with the investigation once they obtain a lead in the case.
In a separate road accident, a bus carrying Ayyappa Swamy devotees from Upparguda in Madannapet of Hyderabad turned turtle on a ghat road at Kanamala Attivalam in Kottayam, about 15 km from the Pampa river, in Kerala. The mishap resulted in the death of a bus driver leaving eight others injured.
The injured persons have been identified as Guru Swamy Rampal Yadav, Abhi Yadav, Ram Yadav Peddi Yadav. At the time of accident, the bus was proceeding from Kottayam to Sabarimala. A 51-year-old driver Raju reportedly lost control of the vehicle while negotiating the curve and the bus overturned. Due to grievous injuries the driver died on the spot while injured devotees were shifted to the Kottayam Medical College Hospital where they are currently undergoing treatment.
Later, the devotees from Hyderabad released a video statement and thanked the Minister of State for Home Affairs and BJP leader Bandi Sanjay Kumar for speaking to the local authorities to provide the injured persons better medical assistance and facilitating the free transportation of the driverโs body back to the city.
