MALKAJGIRI: Two house thefts were reported in succession under the Medipally police station limits in Medchal–Malkajgiri district, raising concern among residents.

In Chengicherla, unidentified persons broke open the locks of a vacant house and stole 20 tolas of silver, a gold ring, a television, and ₹18,000 in cash. The incident came to light after the house owner returned and found the premises ransacked.

Similar method used in second incident

In a similar case in Parvathapur, the accused entered a house during the absence of occupants and took away 30 tolas of silver ornaments. Police said both incidents appeared to follow a similar pattern, with locked houses being specifically targeted.

Police step up efforts to trace accused

Police registered cases in both incidents and formed special teams to trace the accused. Officers are examining footage from nearby closed-circuit television cameras and gathering local intelligence to identify suspects.

Officials said night patrolling has been intensified in vulnerable areas. Residents have been advised to inform the police before leaving homes locked for extended periods and to install surveillance systems where possible.
