Medchal tops Telangana in love marriage registrations
HYDERABAD: Medchal–Malkajgiri district, known for its IT companies and educational institutions, has now emerged as Telangana’s hotspot for love marriages.
More than 1,000 couples register love marriages yearly
According to registration department data, the district consistently records the highest number of love marriage registrations in the state. Of the 4,000-plus love marriages registered annually in Telangana, more than 1,000 are from Medchal–Malkajgiri alone.
The concentration of engineering and medical colleges, private institutes, software firms and thousands of hostels in the area has created opportunities for young people to meet. Many of these relationships are leading couples to registration offices to formalise their marriages.
Between 2020–21 and 2024–25, Medchal–Malkajgiri recorded 984, 1149, 1196, 1168 and 1102 love marriage registrations respectively.
Warangal records third highest registrations in the state
Warangal district ranked third, registering between 412 and 647 love marriages annually during the same period.
