Medchal SOT busts fake insurance racket

JEEDIMETLA: Medchal Special Operations Team (SOT) police arrested a gang allegedly running a fake vehicle insurance racket in Jeedimetla on Friday.
Police said the accused operated from Shapurnagar under the Jeedimetla police station limits.
Vehicle owners targeted with forged documents
According to police, Shivakumar, a real estate trader, along with Ragula Ravi, an insurance agent, and associates Manikyarao, Baburao, Mahesh, Giridhar Goud, Narasimha, Nagaraju and Kishan formed a gang.
They allegedly prepared fake stamps of leading insurance companies and issued counterfeit vehicle insurance policies to unsuspecting vehicle owners after collecting money.
441 fake policies recovered during raids
Acting on credible information, police conducted raids on Friday and took the accused into custody.
Officials said they seized 441 fake insurance documents valued at ₹90 lakh from the accused.
