Under the scheme, a total of 5,008 AWCs have been approved for upgradation in Telangana as part of a nationwide plan to strengthen two lakh centres during the 15th Finance Commission cycle.

Funds allocated for infrastructure and early education facilities

The Union government has allocated ₹30.04 crore to Telangana for upgrading these 5,008 centres into Saksham Anganwadis.

According to the Ministry of Women and Child Development, these upgraded centres will have improved infrastructure compared to conventional AWCs. Facilities include LED screens, water filtration systems, Poshan Vatika, Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) material, and BALA (Building as Learning Aid) paintings.

The ministry stated that district-wise data on operational centres and beneficiaries is available on the Poshan Tracker portal.

Nationwide push to strengthen two lakh centres

The Saksham Anganwadi component under Poshan 2.0 aims to strengthen 2 lakh AWCs across the country at a rate of 40,000 centres per year.

The initiative focuses on improving nutrition delivery and early childhood education services through better infrastructure and digital integration.

The timeline for completion of pending upgradation projects was not specified in the reply.
