Major relief for property owners, Medchal-Malkajgiri collector promises action on 22-A list
HYDERABAD: Thousands of property owners who found their properties on the prohibited list may soon get relief. In this regard, Medchal–Malkajgiri District Collector Mikkilineni Manu Choudary, I.A.S., promised that genuine private properties will be removed from the 22-A list within two days.
This promise was made at a meeting in the Collectorate. At that time, Malkajgiri MLA M. Rajasekhar Reddy led a group of people from different Resident Welfare Associations and property owners from many affected colonies.
The group included residents from many colonies like Seetaram Nagar, Balaram Nagar, Adarsh Nagar, Mallikarjuna Nagar, Kakatiya Nagar, Defence Colony, Jupalli Homes, R.K. Puram Asha Officers Colony, East Anandbagh–Srinagar, and Alwal–Sridham. To support their case, they gave the Collector documents to prove their ownership and asked for their properties to be removed from the 22-A Prohibited Properties List. As a result, the list has caused many problems for property owners because their titles have been questioned by old land laws.
Collector promises action within two days
The Collector said he would review the documents and take action within two days. Specifically, he will check the survey numbers given by the group to see if they can be removed from the prohibited list.
The Collector explained that if owners can prove they own the land and the government has not taken it over, their rights are safe based on Supreme Court decisions. Meanwhile, the group also asked the Collector to focus on old title records from Asha Officers Colony, Defence Colony, and Survey Numbers 109 and 111 in Seetaram Nagar.
People affected by the 22-A list hope the Collector’s promise will help them get their properties back soon. For years, many have owned their homes but cannot sell, mortgage, or develop them because of this list. Therefore, they want to use their property rights without more trouble.
MLA M. Rajasekhar Reddy, who led the group, said he will help property owners and make sure they do not face more problems because of the 22-A list. Furthermore, he promised to work with the district officials until the owners get full relief.
Many community leaders and residents from the affected colonies attended the meeting. They welcomed the Collector’s response.
