Medchal court sentences Shaik Naseer to 20 years

HYDERABAD: A fast-track special court in Medchal–Malkajgiri district has sentenced a man to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment for abducting and repeatedly raping a minor girl, Cyberabad police said.

Cyberabad Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crimes) Muthyam Reddy said the accused, Shaik Naseer alias Ahmed, 35, a native of Vikarabad district and resident of Dundigal, abducted the minor from her house on October 29, 2021.

When the girl went missing, her father lodged a complaint at Dundigal police station on October 30, 2021. Police registered Crime No. 1016/2021 under Section 363 of the Indian Penal Code.

Accused arrested in May 2022

During investigation, police found that the accused had taken the girl to Mumbai and confined her in a room for about six months, during which he raped her multiple times.

Based on the victim’s statement, police added Sections 376(2)(n), 344 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 5(l) read with Section 6 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Police arrested the accused on May 11, 2022, and filed a chargesheet after completing the investigation.

After trial, the fast-track special court in Medchal–Malkajgiri district convicted the accused and awarded the following sentences:

  • 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹5,000 under Section 5(l) read with Section 6 of the POCSO Act.

  • Five years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹2,000 under Section 363 of the IPC.

  • Three years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹1,000 under Section 344 of the IPC.

  • One year of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of ₹500 under Section 506 of the IPC.

The court also directed the authorities to pay ₹5 lakh as compensation to the victim.

DCP Muthyam Reddy commended the investigating officers for ensuring a strong prosecution in the case. He said the Cyberabad Police Commissionerate remains committed to the safety of women and children.
