Meboobgunj Colony Park in Hyderabad faces multiple safety & maintenance issues

Hyderabad: A social activist has highlighted urgent issues at Meboobgunj Colony Park in Siddiamber Bazar, Ward 50, Begum Bazar Division, raising alarms over unauthorized parking, hazardous storage of gas stoves, and the park’s overall lack of maintenance. The social activist named Galibhe Vishal brought the concerns to the attention of local authorities in hopes of prompt action.

Galibhe Vishal (@igalibevishal), an advocate and social activist, highlighted these issues on the social media platform ‘X,’ formerly known as Twitter. In his post, Vishal stated, “Meboobgunj Colony Park issues of unauthorized parking, storage of gas stoves, and lack of maintenance in Meboobgunj Colony Park, Siddiam Bazar, Ward 50.”

In response to the complaint, the official GHMC (Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation) X handle acknowledged the issue, stating, “Dear citizen, the area UBD team has been informed to attend to it. @DDKHZGHMC.”

Speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, local resident Vishal raised serious concerns about the condition of a community park. He stated that unauthorized parking of vehicles within the park restricts access for residents, especially children and elderly individuals.

Additionally, he pointed out the unsafe storage of gas stoves and other materials in the area, highlighting the significant fire hazard it poses. Vishal also emphasized that a lack of proper maintenance has resulted in overgrown weeds, broken pathways, and damaged benches, making the park unusable for the community.

Vishal also raised concerns about the accumulation of garbage, which has led to an unhygienic environment and is further obstructing residents’ use of the park. “Due to these issues, residents are unable to enjoy the park, and it has become a source of inconvenience for them,” he added.

Vishal mentioned that he had informed local MLA Raja Singh, who in turn communicated with the Zonal Commissioner. He also stated that he intends to file a police complaint if the issues are not resolved promptly.

In response to the complaints, GHMC officials took immediate action to address the issues. The corporation cleared the accumulated garbage from the area and sprinkled bleaching powder to improve sanitation.

Residents and activists continue to urge the authorities to ensure that Meboobgunj Colony Park is restored to a safe and functional space for the community.
