39 sewage treatment plants to be built along Musi river with Rs 3,849 crore

Hyderabad : The Telangana government’s MA & UD (Municipal Administration and Urban Development) department gave a green flag and issued an administrative approval for Rs 3,849.1 crore for the construction of 39 sewage treatment plants (STPs) between GHMC and Outer Ring Road area along the Musi river under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT). Principal secretary of municipal administration and urban development Dana Kishore issued a government order to that effect on Saturday.

The construction of Sewage Treatment Plants to be executed in three sewerage projects. The cost of one STP under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode is being built at a cost of Rs 64.11 crore with State and Centre sharing 30 percent of the costs and the remaining 40 percent PPP share of contribution.

Subsequently, sixteen more STPs will be installed in Hybrid Annuity Mode (HAM), a combination of EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and BOT (build, operate, transfer) modes. Further the order states that the Package-I would cost Rs 1,878. 55 crore, which would be shared between Centre/state/HAM on 25/35/40 per cent contribution basis. The second package, also in Hybrid Annuity Mode mode, includes construction of 22 Sewage Treatment Plants at an outlay of 1,906.44 crore.

The order states that “Under Package-II, 22 STPs will be installed in HAM Package-II that would cost Rs 1,906.44 crore, which would be shared between the Centre/state/HAM on 25/35/40 per cent contribution basis.”

Principal secretary of Municipal Administration and Urban Development(MA&UD) Dana Kishore issued a government order with the total project cost earmarked for this is Rs 3,849.1 crore. The government, as per the sanction, permitted the managing director of Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) to adopt the approved terms and conditions of the ongoing Sewage Treatment Plants taken up under the Hybrid Annuity Mode.
