Markfed CEO assaults cotton farmer at market yard
ADILABAD: A Markfed chief executive officer and two aides allegedly assaulted a cotton farmer at the agricultural market yard here on Sunday evening, triggering strong protests from farmers at the spot.
According to sources, CEO Pandari and the two aides confronted the farmer for bringing his cotton produce late in the evening. They allegedly ordered him to leave the yard and then beat him, leading to sharp criticism from other farmers who condemned the assault and the CEO’s conduct.
Collector orders police action
Following a complaint lodged by the victim, Collector Rajarshi Shah directed the police to register a case against Pandari and ascertain whether he was drunk at the time of the incident.
Officials told to verify alleged inebriation
The Collector is learnt to have instructed officials to initiate departmental action after verification. He expressed displeasure over the incident and asked authorities to ensure such behaviour does not recur.
