Hidma killed in Maridmalli encounter in Andhra Pradesh

Top Maoist leader Hidma was killed in an exchange of fire with security forces in the Maridmalli forest area of East Godavari district on Sunday, according to initial information from security officials.
Six Maoists gunned down in early morning operation
Police sources said six Maoists were killed in the encounter, including Hidma and his wife Raji (R.A.J.). The gunfight began between 6am and 7am during a combing operation in the dense forest belt bordering Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
Teams were deployed in the area after inputs on Maoist movement along the inter-state border.
Hidma carried ₹1 crore reward; wife had ₹50 lakh reward earlier
Hidma, a key Central Committee leader, was wanted in several attacks across three states and carried a reward of ₹1 crore. Raji, described as a senior member of the organisation, was also wanted by police and had a reward of ₹50 lakh.
Officials said a formal identification process is underway.
Officials examine photos from encounter site
Police officials are reviewing two sets of pictures from the operation images from the encounter site earlier today and another photograph taken shortly before the operation. Teams also examined the most recent available picture of Hidma for confirmation.
Leader linked to major operations across three states
Hidma, whose full name is Madwa Hidma, was known to operate under multiple identities. He was regarded as one of the most active Maoist commanders in Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Chhattisgarh. Sources said he joined the Maoist movement nearly 25 years ago and was involved in several major operations.
Security forces continue combing operations in the region.
