ACB nabs Manuguru SHO, journalist with Rs. 1L bribe in Bhadradri Kothagudem

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Khammam Range, arrested Soma Satish Kumar, Inspector of Police and Station House Officer (SHO) of Manuguru Police Station, Bhadradri Kothagudem District, along with Mittapalli Gopi, a reporter from Big TV, in a bribery case.
According to the ACB, the two accused demanded a bribe of ₹4,00,000 from a complainant. Acting on the instructions of Inspector Satish Kumar, the reporter, Gopi, accepted ₹1,00,000 as part payment. He was caught red-handed during a trap laid by ACB officials at 1:50 p.m. on April 21, 2025.
Gopi allegedly acted as a middleman between the complainant and the Inspector. The bribe was reportedly demanded to exclude the complainant and his nephew from being named in Crime No. 150/2025, registered under Sections 318(4) and 329(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and Section 5 of the Telangana State Gaming (Amendment) Act, at Manuguru Police Station.
A chemical test conducted during the operation confirmed the presence of bribe traces on Gopi’s fingers and pant pocket. Both the Inspector and the reporter were arrested and produced before the III Additional Sessions Judge for SPE & ACB Cases in Warangal. The investigation is ongoing.
The ACB has urged the public to report any demand for bribes by public servants by calling the toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be submitted via WhatsApp at 9440446106 or through ACB’s official social media channels.
