Environmentalist Karunakar Reddy leads restoration of Mansoorabad’s neglected wells
Hyderabad: Karunakar Reddy, renowned as the Water Hero of India and founder of Igniting Minds, has launched an initiative to restore neglected open wells across Mansoorabad and beyond.
Addressing the issue of environmental degradation and water scarcity, Karunakar Reddy highlighted the tragic transformation of an open well in Mansoorabad, once a primary source of drinking water for thousands, now reduced to a dumping ground plagued by litter and plastic.
In an appeal on ‘X’ (or) Twitter, Karunakar Reddy emphasized the urgent need to reclaim these wells, asserting their potential to become vital water sources for their communities once again. With the help of Sahara Colony management, the initiative under the banner of @JalJanAbhiyaan #WalkForWater seeks to mobilize local support for the restoration efforts.
“This monsoon season, we are committed to restoring this well and setting a precedent for similarly neglected wells across our State,” Reddy said, outlining the broader scope of the project. He urged Telangana citizens to contribute to the cause by identifying and reporting other abandoned wells in their areas.
