Stray dog attacks residents, kills another dog in Manikonda

Manikonda: Residents of Panchavati Colony in Manikonda are expressing fear after a stray dog attacked a 50-year-old woman, two children, and killed another dog on Road 13A on July 8 (Monday).
Speaking to the Hyderabad Mail, a resident and admin of Mana Manikonda, said, “The situation is scary for pedestrians. I complained about this issue to the Environmental Engineer and informed him. It’s terrifying to walk in the streets.”
Mana Manikonda admin posted about the incident on a social media platform ‘X,’ previously known as Twitter and tagged the Manikonda Municipal Corporation, Collector, and Additional Collector of Rangareddy district, urging local authorities to take immediate action.
One resident commented, tagging the authorities, “This is what our bike delivery executives face every day. Please stand up for their safety. What’s your excuse? Why no action despite so many stray dog incidents? When will roads get safer? After so many incidents are reported, why is there no action? Should people live or die?”
In another recent incident a woman in Manikonda’s Chitrapuri Colony was attacked by a pack of stray dogs while on her morning walk. CCTV footage shows her defending herself bravely. Though shaken, she fortunately escaped serious injury.
The woman’s husband, deeply concerned about the stray dog menace, appealed to residents to stop feeding them. He argues that feeding encourages dogs to gather in residential areas, posing a threat to public safety. While his family loves dogs and owns pets, he emphasizes the need for responsible stray management.
“Everyone needs to consider this problem,” he urged. “Adopt and care for dogs if you love them, but don’t feed strays. This attack could have been fatal, especially for the elderly or children. Let’s act before it happens near your home.”
Authorities are working with Blue Cross to capture, sterilize, and vaccinate nine dogs from the area. The dogs will then be released back onto the streets.
