Rs 12.5L for ‘TG 07 R 9999’ : Fancy number craze fills Manikonda RTA coffers
Hyderabad: Amid the growing demand for fancy number plates in Hyderabad, the revenue of Telangana Regional Transport Authority (RTA) at its Manikonda office has seen an increase of Rs 52.6 lakh in the latest registration number auction on Tuesday.
Owing to the demand for number plates with preferred numbers, the RTO registered a record sale in high-value numbers that added substantial amounts to the coffers.
The auction saw Congruent Developers making the highest bid for the fancy number plate “TG 07 R 9999,” as it bought the registration number for a staggering amount of Rs 12,49,999.
During the auction, some more bids were made for other eye-catching numbers. Another registration number TG 07 AA 0009 was auctioned for Rs 8,50,000 and claimed by Rudra Infrastructures Pvt Limited. Similarly, Fuji Software Solutions secured the fancy number ‘TG 07 AA 0001’ with the payment of Rs 4,77,000.
According to a transport department official, they have witnessed a spike in the demand for personalised registration numbers for the four-wheelers. As more vehicle owners are ready to shell out huge sums of money to own fancy numbers, the auction of different fancy numbers for vehicle owners has become an additional source of revenue for the department.
