Manikonda residents seek action on encroached govt land

HYDERABAD: The Citizens Council for a Better Society has formally asked the District Collector of Ranga Reddy and the HYDRAA Commissioner to act quickly to protect government land in Manikonda Jagir Village and to expedite the expansion and modernization of the Manikonda Post Office.
Against this backdrop, the Manikonda Post Office serves a growing population in Manikonda, Puppalaguda, Alkapur Township, and nearby areas. It faces severe space constraints, with overcrowding, limited waiting areas, and poor infrastructure causing major inconvenience, especially for senior citizens, pensioners, and women.
In response to these challenges, President Bommu Upendranadh Reddy and General Secretary Shaik Aarif Mohammed stated in their representation that the adjoining government land allegedly encroached. They urged authorities to use this land to expand postal, banking, Aadhaar, pension, and parcel services, which are in high demand because of rapid urbanization.

Specifically, their key demands include an immediate joint survey and demarcation of the government land, action against encroachments under the Telangana Land Encroachment Act, 1905, fencing and cautionary signboards to prevent future encroachments, allocating land for post office modernization, and better coordination among Revenue, HYDRAA, Municipal, and Postal authorities.
Additionally, the Citizens Council asked that a copy of their representation be sent to the Chief Postmaster General (CPMG), Telangana Circle, to highlight the postal department’s essential role in last-mile public service.
“The proposed expansion will benefit lakhs of residents in this rapidly growing urban area,” said Shaik Aarif Mohammed. He called for urgent intervention in the public interest.
