HYDERABAD: A major water pipeline burst at midnight on Manikonda Pipeline Road in Hyderabad, sending water gushing into the cellars of nearby apartment complexes and triggering panic among residents.

Within five minutes, water levels rose to nearly six feet, submerging eight cars and several motorcycles parked in the basements. Residents rushed downstairs after hearing a loud sound, only to find water entering the cellars at high pressure.

Power supply to some blocks was briefly switched off as a precautionary measure. Apartment managements alerted authorities and moved residents away from the affected areas.

Teams from HYDRAA and disaster management reached the spot soon after receiving information and began pumping out the water using heavy motors. Officials also inspected the damaged stretch of the pipeline to prevent further leakage.

Though there was no loss of life, residents reported substantial property damage, particularly to vehicles parked in the flooded basements.
