Manikonda Municipality takes action on waterlogging issues near KRINSS Villas
Manikonda: Manikonda Municipality has taken action to address severe waterlogging issues identified by residents opposite KRINSS Villas in Nankramguda. Responding to repeated citizen complaints, municipal staff conducted an inspection and undertook efforts to alleviate the waterlogging problem in the affected area.
The inspection revealed that the frequent flooding was primarily caused by stormwater drains being choked with silt. To tackle this issue, authorities have announced ongoing efforts to clear the clogged drains. This update was shared on ‘X’ (formerly Twitter) through the official Manikonda Municipality account.
Residents of KRINSS Villas had previously faced severe flooding on their main road, which turned into a river even with minor rainfall. This issue gained significant attention on social media X, with the Apna Manikonda admin criticising both the Telangana government and the Manikonda Municipal Corporation for their perceived inaction.
Shaik Aarif, General Secretary of the Citizens Council, expressed concerns about the inadequacy of local infrastructure and governance. Despite repeated requests, municipal authorities had not addressed necessary drainage improvements or road repairs. Aarif highlighted broader issues, including rapid urbanisation outpacing infrastructure development, poor stormwater drainage planning, and the negative impact of new high-rise buildings on road conditions.
A comment on ‘X’ further pointed out that the problems were worsened by poor planning and construction damage, noting that prominent local leaders, including BJP MP Raghunandan Rao and BRS MLA Harish Rao, are residents of the area.
