Manikonda esidents faces Water Tanker Issue

Manikonda: Residents of Sai Gautam Colony, Puppalaguda in Manikonda, filed a complaint at 1 a.m. with Narsingi Police about illegal water tankers causing road and sewer damage. After being threatened when questioning the tankers’ entry, the residents reported the issue, but the case remains unregistered.

The residents said that the illegal tankers, which had previously passed behind Sai Gautam Colony, have been rerouted through the colony’s roads due to ongoing repair work on nearby pipelines.

While speaking with the Hyderabad Mail, Naren, a local resident, said that about a hundred tankers now travel through the colony daily, causing further damage to the roads and sewerage. He said that these tankers, which lack the necessary permissions, pose a threat to the safety of the community, including children. He also noted that the tankers frequently exceed the speed limit of 50-60 km/h on residential roads, compounding the problem.

Naren accused Batta Raju, identified as a landlord involved in the business, and Ravindhar, who oversees the tanker operations, of threatening residents. He claimed that these individuals are influential and are running the illegal water tanker operation.

Last night, the situation worsened when a drainage pipeline broke around 12:30 a.m., causing a leak on the roads. Despite residents’ attempts to address the issue, tankers arrived shortly thereafter, and their drivers demanded passage. Frustrated by the lack of help from the emergency number 100, residents visited the Narsingi police station to file a complaint.

The residents of Sai Gautham Colony said, “We went to the police station to collect the acknowledgment. However, after waiting for an hour, we did not receive a proper response from the police. We were told that it might take more time to provide the acknowledgment. Therefore, we returned home and resumed our daily routine.”

The residents have described the condition of the roads and sewerage as deplorable and have called for immediate action. They are requesting that the illegal tankers be barred from using their roads and that a case be registered against those responsible for the operations. They have also brought the issue to the attention of the local councilor and are demanding a permanent resolution.
