Manikonda’s Alkapur Township faces drinking water quality issues; Residents demand action

Manikonda: Residents of Alkapur Township, Manikonda, are facing ongoing issues with the quality of drinking water, raising public health concerns. Despite numerous complaints, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has yet to address the situation, leaving the community tense.
Shaik Aarif Mohammed, the General Secretary of the Alkapur Township Citizens Council, expressed his frustration with the Hyderabad Mail regarding the poor water quality, which poses a significant health threat. He stated that despite multiple requests for intervention, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has ignored the issue, leaving residents at risk of preventable health hazards. Furthermore, delays in issuing new water connections have complicated the situation. Many residents are still waiting for basic access to safe drinking water, with no action taken by the authorities.

He called for immediate measures to ensure the water supplied to Alkapur Township meets safety and health standards, guaranteeing clean and potable water for all households.
He also urged the HMWSSB to expedite issuing new water connections, enabling all residents to access safe drinking water without further delay. Additionally, he stressed the need for a transparent and efficient grievance redressal system to address residents’ complaints promptly and effectively.
